NGO’s, journalists, activists and governmental agencies among others understand that Internet and mobile technologies allow them to spread knowledge in new and innovative ways. Multimedia Web sites, Podcasts, Social Networks and mobile devices are changing the way information is produced and consumed.
Who creates and consumes these relatively new forms of media has radicalized the responsibilities and reach of organizations both large and small, and changed the role of those entering them.
TubesCodeContent is a public, companion Web site to a course taught by Michael Cervieri at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
While the course is designed to give students a hands-on experience creating content for the Web and other delivery platforms, this site is meant to give a wider audience access to — and participation in — our explorations and research on content creation, open source trends, legal frameworks, cultural developments and opportunities in contemporary digital media.
The overriding goal is to understand how to utilize digital media production and distribution to participate in — and affect discourse on — the world’s pressing issues.
TubesCodeContent is created as a participatory community. We hope you will join us. If you’d like to do so, you can register here. TubesCodeContent Members can create, administer and control their own Groups, Blogs and Forums. We just ask that you keep the subject matter on target. In the upcoming weeks we’ll have Facebook and Twitter integration so your movement between communities is not a chore.
