About Me

Mehdi is an Iranian journalist, studies at SIPA with the concentration on international security policy, specialization on Media and Communication, and the Middle East. His area of interests includes interstate relations and diplomacy, Islam and globalization, and new media. From 2003 to 2008 he hosted a weekly Persian-language TV program as a political commentator.

    While Iran’s post-election political upheaval is taking place on the streets, the government pays special attentions to the online activities and exercises an expanded control over cyberspace.  Iranian Students News Agency, ISNA reported on Friday Nov 14, that Ismael Muqadam—the commander of the Islamic Republic security Forces—introduced a new police division for ‘exchange information space’.

    Thanks for comments Michael and Mariana,
    1. Education is free in Iran- even though there are some profitable schools- and English is mandatory from middle school. So I don’t think that knowing English effects people’s social class.
    2. Usually in recent decades, the agents of social change are in the cities that internet is vastly used.
